At Rebel Law Ltd, we try to understand what outcome you want, and help you achieve it.
We work with you to make sure that you understand your choices and you feel empowered to make them, with our support.
We are also very easy to talk to; plain speaking and we hate jargon.
Women's rights are our passion, but we tackle all forms of discrimination with gusto.
We can advise you about different tactics to manage your case, from feisty terrier style to diplomatic envoy and everything inbetween. Our experience in sorting out employment law problems means we can guide you down the most appropriate path. There is no single approach that is right because every case is different, so we listen, we support and we help to sort things out.
Rebel Law Ltd is a new type of business offering legal services, and doing so in a modern and innovative way. It is owned and managed by a qualified solicitor with 20 years experience working in law firms, but there isn't a crusty old suit in sight.
You won't see a bookcase filled with leather bound law reports from 1965 in our offices (all our resources are online), or a beige plastic fax machine (who remembers those!).
We work mostly remotely, using technology to facilitate effective communication and efficient case management. We have offices in Central London for when we need to meet people in person, but we are just as happy to video call or WhatsApp for your convenience.
We have access to support staff when we need, but we don't employ a legion of secretaries like many old-fashioned law firms do.
That way we save time and costs (not having to wait for documents to be typed up), and can keep our fees sensible.
We aim to be mobile, informal and accessible, so there is no hiding behind a scary secretarial firewall when you call us.
Our managing director, Emma-Jane Taylor-Moran brings a fresh perspective to legal services and client oriented working.
She grew up in a working class family in South London without the privileges many lawyers start out with. After a first career in social work, she studied at University as a mature student whilst holding down a job and raising 3 young children. She was massively proud and surprised to be awarded the Law School Prize for best results in her year.
Emma-Jane then trained in a Law Centre and worked in several different types of law firms from the High Street to the City, including as an equity partner and most recently a self-employed Consultant.
During her career, she has battled through institutional sexism in the profession, and many other life problems we all experience. Facing discrimination and representing clients who have, has given her a real insight into how it affects people.
Emma-Jane wanted to bring something different to the legal services market - a law firm that prioritises clients over profits, that champions equality, fairness and justice, and which really listens to what clients need.
Setting up a new law firm and calling it Rebel Law seemed to be the best way to achieve this.
We set ourselves apart from both the "traditional law firms" and the current self-styled "market disrupters". We will explain why.
The legal services market has for many years been based on a triangle shaped business model with profits based on the hard work of junior and mid-level lawyers with huge billing targets, to line the pockets of the few partners at the top. Most lawyers get stuck in this rigid career path, often working 100 hours a week. We wholly reject this model, preferring to put people before profits and we have a team of lawyers who we treat like humans and we also work collaboratively with experienced consultant solicitors on a fee share basis.
We are also different from unregulated legal services providers as we are regulated by the SRA, and we don't sell cheap legal document templates nor are we a claims management company. We know that "one size fits all" is nonsense, so we bring value to you in our bespoke service, tailored to your needs. As experienced and regulated professionals, we can give you high quality work at a sensible price.
Did you know that in UK law firms, 49% of all lawyers are women, but only 33% of law firm partners/leaders are women?
We need to change that!
